FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?

Although many people associate hypnosis with stage acts, hypnosis is a natural, normal state that we go into every single day. When you watch a movie, listen to music, or drive a car, the "subconscious" part of your mind becomes active. This is why music can take us back to a specific memory, or movies can make us cry, and it's also the reason why we go into "highway hypnosis" when we drive.

WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?

Hypnotherapy is a form a behavior modification and self-improvement through the use of hypnosis and hypnotherapeutic techniques. Hypnosis is a state of focused awareness where the mind becomes very receptive to positive suggestions. During this state, powerful changes can be made in the deepest parts of the subconscious mind for the purposes of self-improvement and personal development.

WHAT IS THE "SUBCONSCIOUS MIND"?

The conscious mind is the part of the mind that contains our logic, reasoning, decision-making, analyzing, and will power. The conscious mind makes up only about 10% of our total mind power. The subconscious mind is the part of the mind that contains our associations, emotions, habits, and learned behaviors. The subconscious mind makes up almost 90% of our total mind power. Most of the problems we experience are the result of conflict between the conscious and subconscious mind.

CAN I BE HYPNOTIZED?

Everyone has the ability to be hypnotized, as it is a natural process that we go into every day (watching movies, daydreaming, driving, and listening to music are all examples of hypnosis). Some subjects will naturally go into a deep state of hypnosis while others might experience a lighter state.

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO BE HYPNOTIZED?

During hypnosis you will be guided into a deep state of mental and physical relaxation. The body will become very comfortable and relaxed while the mind will enter a focused state of awareness. During this state you will be able to hear and respond to everything that is being said and you will remain in complete control with the ability to stop the process at any time.
